Portland Local's mission is to support PDX small businesses and all the unique experiences and creativity they bring to our communities. Our focus is locally owned businesses based in the greater Portland area.

Why build a small business directory for Portland?

Perhaps you've noticed, but searching for local services online often results in non-local companies appearing in your results.

Some of them are obvious. Search for "Portland rentals" and you'll probably run into VRBO or AirBnB.

Others are less obvious. Search for a plumber, house cleaner, lawn care, HVAC . . . and you will often find companies that masquerade as local companies, but who are (in truth) brokers between real Portland businesses and you.

Let's cut out the middlemen and keep commerce in our community! Portland Local is based right here in PDX and it's free for businesses to get listed.

Truth-be-told, Portland-area businesses have had it rough in the post-pandemic economy. And I know, because I run a small agency and talk to business owners in PDX everyday.

It's my hope that shining a light on all the diverse, wonderful, and weird businesses in PDX, and cutting out "the middle men" can do some good for our community.
